Vote NO on them all!
Amendment 1 would allow the legislature to create special courts for businesses and other special interests.
Recommendation: Vote NO on Amendment 1. The law should be the same for everyone. We can’t let big business and special interests pick their courts.
Amendment 2 would revise the Louisiana constitution to reduce taxes on corporations and millionaires. It shifts the tax burden to working families. Everything you buy will be more expensive.
Recommendation: Vote NO on Amendment 2. This proposed amendment is intentionally misleading. It will not save ordinary Louisianians taxes. It will give tax cuts to the rich, liquidate educational trust funds, and increase taxes on food.
Amendment 3 would remove Constitutional protections for children and allow the legislature to pass laws to prosecute children under 17 as adults.
Recommendation: Vote NO on Amendment 3. Louisiana incarcerates more people than any place in the world. Sending children, as young as 10 years old, to Angola won’t fix crime.
Amendment 4 would require that judicial vacancies have special elections as soon as possible instead of giving candidates up to 12 months.
Recommendation: Vote NO on Amendment 4. Only lifetime politicians can fundraise, staff a campaign, and win an election in less than 12 months. Prospective candidates need adequate time to seek judicial office.
