NOPD is Putting Private Spy Cameras on Public Property

Posted by

NOPD is prohibited by law from utilizing mass surveillance or facial recognition technology (FRT) without specific special exceptions. For years, NOPD has claimed that former NOPD Officer Bryan Lagarde’s private spy network was separate and independent from the City of New Orleans.

We’ve long suspected that NOPD’s claims were bullshit. There is prolific documentation that NOPD officers collaborate with Project NOLA to spy on New Orleans. TODAY, NOPD responded to one of my records request and released documents that confirm NOPD actively collaborates with Project NOLA to install private spy cameras on public property.
